SATS Mobile Triage 3
Triage is the critical process used toeffectively prioritize patients and if implemented correctly hasbeen shown to decrease mortality. This becomes especially important within developing countriessuch as South Africa wherein the healthy system is further strainedby the growing burden of disease and increased trauma, and lacksthe relevant and adequate human and technological capacity andsupport to effectively manage the environment.TOMPSA has identified a critical need in this regard and is inprocess of developing an automated, multi-parameter diagnostictriage device and accompanying application to be used by healthcareworkers. The triage device would improve triage accuracy andoptimize and automate the triaging process reducing triage time andrelated requisite training.Furthermore, it would capacitate healthcare workers in underresourced environments to do an effective triage assessment, as thedevice would facilitate an instant electronic record of triage andrelay data to a centralized point in an emergency centre. We would like to thank Michele Twomey and DGN WebSolutions(Gerco Brandwijk) for making this app possible.
